Festival Branding | “Skamba skamba kankliai”, Vilnius Ethnic Culture Center (2023)

Festival “Skamba skamba kankliai”, Vilnius Ethnic Culture Center

Year:

2023

The 50th International Folklore Festival “Skamba skamba kankliai” took place in Vilnius from May 25–28, 2023. This event is one of the few authentic ethnic music festivals in Europe that has become an annual feast for fans of all Lithuanian folklore during its rich history. Traditionally held on the last weekend of May, the festival brings together a large, well-connected community every year. This open, accessible festival reveals the relevance of the intangible cultural heritage and provides artistically valuable experiences and the opportunity to be a part of the continuing inherited culture.

This year's festival was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the festival and celebrating the beauty and richness of our culture and traditions.

I was honored to create the logo for this event (based on the festival's existing logo), the visual identity of the event, as well as various design-related deliverables: from a book, to social media visuals, posters, badges, covers, banners, “Rūta” chocolate boxes, and more.

To represent the richness of our culture and its dynamic diversity, I chose the theme of a mosaic/puzzle, symbolizing different aspects of ethnic culture, from people to music, dances, crafts, plants, and more. Within each visual, I varied the layout of the mosaic.

In addition to static designs, I also created videos to promote the festival on national broadcaster LRT channel, VAGA, and ACME screens.
